Photo album for people living with dementia: Tribu receives Certification-D quality label

Can a photo bring back memories? At Tribu, we believe it can. And now that belief has been officially recognised with the Certification‑D quality label. Awarded by people living with dementia, for people living with dementia, this label confirms that our photo album truly makes a difference in the daily lives of older adults with memory loss.

What is Certification‑D?

Between 2018 and 2050, the number of people living with dementia in Northwest Europe is expected to rise from 3.3 to 8.5 million. The care system can’t keep up with that pace. That’s why the Certification‑D project aims to evaluate and recognise products that genuinely support independent and dignified living at home. The key objectives: – Help people with dementia live independently at home for longer, – Support families in making better choices when it comes to care tools, – Encourage businesses to develop high-quality solutions.

Why does a photo album help with dementia?

Studies show that:

  • Familiar faces and places stimulate visual memory,

  • A tangible, personalised book brings calm and reassurance,

  • It strengthens connection between relatives and caregivers,

  • A photo album supports orientation, identity, and a sense of belonging.

Tribu’s involvement in the project

Tribu participated in the Certification‑D project in Belgium. We wanted to see if our family albums could also have a positive impact on people living with dementia. During tests conducted in so-called Living Labs, our albums were evaluated by:

  • People living with dementia themselves,

  • Their relatives,

  • Professional caregivers.

The results were extremely positive.

Tribu was officially tested within the Certification‑D project and is listed as a certified product on the European project page.
